Mentoring startups from around the world at Google HQ – Mountain View. Awesome and unbelievable.
I was so excited to be invited by Zhi Min from Institute of Systems Science NUS to share about Viki, product development process, best practices, and our work-in-progress ED (Emotional Design) Score. We need more of this collaboration to foster innovation for a better design. Good job to Teo Choong Ching and Esther Fan for sharing the best practices in user research and prototyping.
This was not easy. Now I appreciate more those who can speak well during a TV interview. This was done during Google Hack Fair 2015 event.
Watch the video here (if you’re on desktop, you might be annoyed by the overlay that forces you to log in or register. It’s better to watch it on mobile): Borrys Hasian from Rakuten Viki interview.
I went to Jogjakarta – Indonesia last week to conduct a UX Design Workshop. What I like most about it was the place. It’s designed to be like a traditional hall, and I liked it a lot! The people were also awesome. Some of them are connected with me through LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter, and we met in-person for the first time. So excited! The part where people were queueing to take some pictures with me was also awesome 🙂
I think I had enough trips this year. Need some good rest until end of the year. Nevertheless, the pass 2-3 months have been awesome, and I can’t wait for what’s coming in 2016.
We have a regular design meetup, called DesignDojo. This month was about Sketchstorming. We’ve been using this method a lot, as part of our ideation stage in Viki, and I was so excited to see how people used the method and shared their ideas. Sketchstorming is about releasing your confidence in communicating your ideas and to overcome the fear of rejection. It’s about quantity. Coming up with as many ideas (sketches in this case) and discuss them with others, be inspired by others, and hopefully it can trigger a better design/idea/approach.
Feel free to join our DesignDojo Meetup. See you there.
