Human Interface and Usability Were Too Narrow

Do you know who came up with the term User Experience Design? Don Norman coined the term User Experience Design when he was the Vice President of the Advanced Technology Group at Apple.

Don Norman

“I invented the term because I thought human interface and usability were too narrow. I wanted to cover all aspects of the person’s experience with the system including industrial design graphics, the interface, the physical interaction and the manual. Since then the term has spread widely, so much so that it is starting to lose it’s meaning.” – Don Norman about the term User Experience Design.

I strongly suggest you to read Don Norman’s Emotional Design: Why We Love (or Hate) Everyday Things to understand what User Experience is all about, right from the person who coined the term.
