Buy More, Save More. Really?

“Buy More, Save More.” That looks like an irresistible offer. I saw the offer at Adidas store, and couldn’t resist the urge to go inside and see if I need (or more precisely: want) something. The good thing is the shop was close, so no shopping for tonight.

I did some simple calculation, and I’d have spent more actually to save more. See the sketch below. One method to wake your logical part of the brain up when the emotional part pushes you to buy something you don’t need, is to force yourself to come back later, the next day is better, to the shop. It’s saved me many times from spending more to have the feeling of saving more.
