Not a Copy Cat, Just Being Creative

Commenting on a design is easier, but come up with the design for the first time, that’s harder. Much harder. For me, to come up with a web design for the first time, I don’t just sit there, waiting for an inspiration. That’s gonna take some time. There’s a faster way: go to patterntap.com, then randomly choose any design from there, keep browsing, until I get some ideas of how the design would look like, at least for an initial rough wireframes.

Keep in mind, that there’s no perfect design. You have to iterate several times, until you create something that makes sense.

“Creativity is to think more efficiently.”

– Pierre Reverdy

I’m not being a copy cat, I’m just trying to be creative. Because creativity is about mixing existing design and come up with a new one that solves your own problem, or meets your users needs.

Try to browse websites from different industry. Many times, they gave me some ‘AHA’ moment, that ‘Hey, I could adapt that to my design…’ thing. Inspiration can come from anywhere. The solution to any problem is already out there, it’s just waiting to be found by an open and creative mind.
